Senior, hands-on data leadership, without the full-time hire.
For SMB and growth companies that need senior data leadership and the hands to build it.
Your data hasn’t kept up with your growth.
You’ve outgrown the founder-built dashboards.
The dashboards and spreadsheets you started with are breaking down, and every question turns into an afternoon of digging.
Nobody trusts the numbers in the Monday meeting.
Marketing reports one figure, finance reports another, and the room argues about whose number is right instead of deciding what to do.
You know you need a data hire, but can’t scope the role.
Analyst, engineer, or leader: the wrong first hire is slow and expensive to undo. You need senior judgment before you commit to a salary.
What you walk away with.
Numbers your team trusts
One source of truth, so the Monday meeting argues about decisions instead of whose figure is right.
A platform you own
Built in your stack and handed to your team, with no dependency on me.
A hire you can scope
You’ll know exactly which data role to hire next, and when.
Ways to work together.
Most engagements start with a free call, then combine whichever of these fit.
Discovery
A scoped audit of your stack and data that ends in a prioritized roadmap. A low-commitment way to start.
Lead
Fractional head of data, typically one to three days a week. I set the strategy, own the roadmap, and make the build-vs-buy calls.
Build
The hands-on build, in your stack: data platform, modelling, and pipelines. Your team owns it when I’m done.
I’m André Baaij.
I was Head of Data at Babylist, where I built and led the data organization to around 20 people: engineering, analytics, and the platform underneath all of it.
Before that, I spent four years at MIcompany (now Rewire), a data consultancy, installing data infrastructure and building data teams for enterprises across ecommerce, fintech, and telecom. I’ve stood up modern data stacks from scratch and untangled ones that grew too fast.
Thelix is how I bring that to companies that need senior data leadership but aren’t ready to hire it full-time. You get someone who’s built the function before, without the full-time cost.
Let’s talk.
Not sure your data problem is worth a hire yet? A short call will tell you where you stand and what to fix first.
